The Shared, Directed Camera

Everything about REANIMAL's unique camera system: Why it feels like one screen, and how it impacts co-op.

What is the Shared, Directed Camera?

REANIMAL uses a Shared, Directed Camera that tracks both players simultaneously, framing the action like a movie scene. It does not split into two screens (splitscreen).

Pros & Cons

Pros (Why it's cool)

  • Tension: It feels like you are watching a horror movie together.
  • Coordination: Requires players to act as a team.
  • No Splitscreen: You see the full environment without distraction.

Cons (Why it might be frustrating)

  • Restricted View: You cannot look around freely (e.g., check behind you).
  • Movement: If one player runs ahead, the camera won't follow until the other catches up.
  • Desync: If one player gets stuck, both might be unable to proceed.

Tips for Camera Coordination

  1. Lead & Follow: Designate a leader for movement sections.
  2. Wait Up: Don't run off-screen. If you disappear, you might die or glitch.
  3. Communicate: Use voice chat to coordinate jumps and interactables.
