The Timeline: A Chronological Reconstruction

A speculative timeline of events in REANIMAL, from the arrival on the island to the final escape.

The Pre-Game Era

The Origins of the Island

  • The Island appears to be a long-standing facility. The dilapidated state of the Lighthouse and the Mill suggests decades of neglect or automated operation without human oversight.
  • Theory: The Island was originally a processing plant or a "correctional" facility for wayward children, which corrupted over time into a nightmare engine.

The Capture

  • Before the game starts, the protagonists' friends are captured.
  • The Boat Ride: The opening cutscene implies the siblings arrived intentionally to rescue them, rather than being captured themselves initially.

The Game Events (Chronological)

  1. Arrival (Chapter 1)

    • The siblings wash ashore / dock at the Misty Coast.
    • They infiltrate the Mill.
    • Key Event: Restoring power to the central elevator. This signals their presence to the island's "immune system" (The Sniffer).
  2. The Pursuit (Chapter 1-2)

    • The escape from the Trainyard leads to the separation.
    • The Split: The timeline bifurcates briefly as the Brother (Mud) and Sister (Sewer) navigate separate paths before reuniting at the Orphanage.
  3. The Infiltration (Chapter 2)

    • Inside the Orphanage, they discover the "living quarters" of the captured children.
    • The Clock Tower: Reseting the time might be symbolic of trying to "fix" the past, or simply a mechanical lock.
    • They confront The Warden and escape via the slide.
  4. The Climax (Chapter 3)

    • The Factory is the heart of the evil.
    • They witness the "production line" (what happens to the captured children).
    • The Conductor fight leads to the destruction of the facility's core.

The Post-Game / Ending

  • The Escape: The siblings leave the island.
  • The Cycle Continues?: If the "Glitched Reality" theory holds true, their escape might just be the start of a new loop, or they might now be infected by the island's corruption.
