Survival Guide: Stealth & Chase Mechanics

Mastering the core mechanics of REANIMAL: How to hide, when to run, and how to survive the nightmares.

Stealth Mastery

Stealth is your primary defense. The enemies in REANIMAL are stronger and faster than you.

Valid Hiding Spots

  • Under Tables/Beds: Classic.
  • Tall Grass/Reeds: In outdoor areas like the Swamp.
  • Shadows: Only effective against enemies that rely on sight (e.g., The Warden). Does not work against The Sniffer.
  • Inside Objects: Empty boxes, doll torsos (Factory), wardrobes.

Noise Discipline

  • Crouch-walking: Silent.
  • Walking: Quiet, but audible at close range.
  • Running: Loud. Will trigger an investigation.
  • Jumping: Very loud upon landing. avoid unless necessary.

The Chase Sequence

When you are spotted, a chase begins. The music swells, and the camera often shifts to a "run towards screen" perspective.

Survival Tactics

  1. Look Ahead (and Behind): Since the camera is fixed, obstacles often appear suddenly.
  2. Slide: Running while holding the crouch button allows you to slide under low obstacles without losing momentum.
  3. Break Line of Sight: If you turn a corner, try to hide immediately. Sometimes the AI will lose track of you.
  4. Co-op Rescue: If your partner is grabbed, you might have a split second to throw an object at the enemy to stun them.

Enemy Types & Counters

  • Critters (Small): Use Light.
  • The Sniffer: Do not rely on shadows. Mask your scent (if mechanics differ) or use noise distractions far away.
  • The Warden: Sight-based. Stay low and out of the lantern's cone.
